    PROCUREMENT MANAGER
    Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The organization’s core mandate is to provide access to quality Health Products and Technologies through supply chain, quality assurance, and health systems strengthening services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients in Kenya, other countries in Africa, and beyond.
    MEDS is seeking to recruit a self-driven, results-oriented Procurement Manager of good professional and ethical standing. The position reports to the Director - Supply Chain and Logistics. He/She will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement process for  acquisition of goods and services in conformity to set requirements in an effective, efficient, cost-effective and timely manner to deliver value for money.
    Key Responsibilities

    1. Provide leadership to the procurement team, set performance goals, mentor staff, and foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement
    2. Develop and implement procurement strategies to acquire goods and services at the best value and align procurement activities with organizational goals and objectives
    3. Carry out negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and manage contracts for compliance and performance
    4. Develop and implement policies, procedures and leverage on technology to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency and promote ethical sourcing
    5. Enforce adherence of procurement activities to statutory and regulatory requirements, internal policies, ethical standards and contractual obligations to mitigate risks, promote transparency and achieve cost efficiency
    6. Identify potential supply chain disruptions and implement risk mitigation strategies
    7. Coordinate with service providers for in-bound logistics for effective and efficient tracking of shipments (from origin to destination) as well as timely clearance of shipments
    8. Coordinate with internal teams to align incoming inventory volumes with storage requirements to minimize bottlenecks  e.g. capacity challenges etc.
    9. Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers to maximize value, foster innovation and secure supply chains
    10. Analyse procurement-related data and prepare management reports to inform decision making
    11. Set clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for procurement team and conduct regular performance reviews
    12. Oversee budget for procurement section and analyse market trends to optimize procurement costs to enhance organizational performance
    13. Plan, track and coordinate procurement-related projects for successful implementation

    Job Requirements

    1. Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a Business related field
    2. Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law or related health/business fields
    3. Minimum of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply or equivalent
    4. At least 5 to 7 years of relevant experience years with a minimum of three (3) years in a managerial position
    5. Experience of using ERP systems
    6. Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM), CIPS or equivalent
    7. A holder of a current Supplies Practitioner’s License from KISM
    8. Experience of procuring medicines and medical supplies is an added advantage
