    Job title: Network Coordinator
    Organization: FIPS Solutions
    Location: Field-based (2 Bungoma, 2 Busia , 3 Kakamega counties)
    Reporting to: Multi-Network Coordinator (MNC) 
    Contract Type: 1year-Fixed-term
    Role Purpose

    The Network Coordinator will support, train, supervise, and mentor a network of Village-Based Advisors (VBAs) to deliver high-quality agricultural extension, input access, and entrepreneurship services to smallholder farmers. The role focuses on achieving seasonal program targets, strengthening VBA businesses, tracking impact, and upholding the FIPS approach.

    Key Objectives & Responsibilities

    1. Support VBAs to Achieve Seasonal Program Targets

    • Understand seasonal targets for the assigned VBA network and communicate them clearly to each VBA.

    • Conduct regular field visits to coach, mentor, spot-check, and provide feedback to VBAs, ensuring full network coverage through a rotational schedule.

    • Train and support VBAs and farmers on good agricultural practices suitable for the local agro-ecology.

    • Proactively flag performance gaps to the MNC and Program Coordinators and collaborate to resolve challenges and ensure program success.

    2. Select, Train, and Supervise VBAs as Entrepreneurs

    • Support the development and implementation of profitable VBA business models in collaboration with Program Coordinators and the MNC.

    • Organize and supervise VBA trainings on entrepreneurship, profit-making models, and the FIPS approach (house-to-house, inclusive outreach, small packs, multi-technology).

    • Track VBA business performance, identify barriers to success, and recommend solutions.

    • Act as a trusted linkage between VBAs and suppliers, supporting responsible credit relationships in line with FIPS business practices.

    • Support demand creation through field days, demonstrations, and promotional activities with suppliers and program teams.

    • Maintain strong working relationships with local administration (chiefs) and Ministry of Agriculture Extension Officers, including sharing monthly activity reports.

    3. Track, Report, and Demonstrate Impact

    • Train VBAs on the use of FIPS logbooks, reporting tools, and procedures.

    • Maintain accurate records, including activity schedules, VBA visit checklists, contact lists, and seasonal plans.

    • Compile and submit timely monthly summary reports to the MNC and follow up on reporting gaps.

    • Maintain records of trainings, demonstrations, seed repayment agreements, and other network activities.

    • Collaborate with Field Monitoring Officers to integrate performance feedback and continuously improve network outcomes.

    • Continuously learn and promote appropriate crops, technologies, and practices aligned to farmer needs and local conditions.

    4. Operate as a Responsible Entrepreneur

    • Maintain financially responsible relationships with suppliers and private sector partners.

    • Use the FIPS name appropriately and seek approval where reputational or operational risks may arise.

    • Ensure timely repayment of credit and responsible management of VBA credit arrangements.

    • Support VBAs in managing credit responsibly, including enforcing written agreements and repayment discipline.

    Required Qualifications & Competencies

    • Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or a related field.

    • Strong understanding of smallholder farming systems and local agro-ecologies.

    • Proven experience in farmer extension, community mobilization, or sales/field coordination.

    • Strong coaching, communication, and relationship management skills.

    • Basic business and financial management skills.

    • Ability to work independently in field-based settings and meet reporting deadlines.
